Autumn (September, October) : Perhaps the best time to go for trekking as this is when there is an onset of snowfall and landscapes starts looking picturesque. If planning to visit during the autumn season, one should do booking in advance as there are very less accommodation options.

Place To Visit In Gaumukh
Gaumukh Trek : The Gaumukh trek is one of the most hard treks in Northern India.The trek to Gaumukh starts from Gangotri glacier, and 18 km from Gaumukh. The path is heavily distribute with rocks and stones from the 2013 NORTH indian inundation, walk with attention.
On this path of 18th kms, 9 kms on one will face the abode of the Chir trees, known as Chirbasa. Since there are no horses or ponies available, unlike other treks, make sure to pack yourself well with resources strong enough to last you the whole trek.
4 kms on, is the trek of Bhujbhasa, which is also one of the pit stops for the regular trekkers. The Lalbaba and Rambaba ashrams, as well as the government run GMVN Bungalow are the accomodation options available for the pitstop. After reaching Gomukh, trekkers usually follow-up with a 3 km trek to Tapovan as well.

Gangotri Gaumukh Trek (Detailed Itinerary)
Day 01: Haridwar or Rishikesh – Uttarkashi (1150 meters/3772 ft)
Early morning, after breakfast, embark on a drive to Uttarkashi via Chamba. During the journey, you can enjoy the stunning view of Garhwal peaks. Evening and overnight stay at Uttarkashi hotel.
Day 02: Uttarkashi – Gangotri (3048 meters/9998 ft)
Embark on an early morning drive to Gangotri via Harsil Valley, which is known for many sightseeing options like Sat Tal and Wilson Cottage.
During the journey, you will visit the hot springs of Gangnani. Upon arrival at Gangotri, you will be transferred to a hotel for overnight stay and dinner.
Day 3: Chirbasa to Bhojbasa.
- Altitude: 11,761 ft (3,585 m) to 12,450 ft (3,795 m)
- Time taken: 3 hours, 5 km
- Trek gradient: Moderate. Initial 100 m ascent to get back on the trail. Very gradual ascent all the way to Bhojbasa

Day 04: Bhojwassa – Gomukh (3890 meters/12760 ft) – Bhojwassa (3792 meters/ 12440.94 ft) (5 km trek one side)
Start your day with a beautiful smile and view of Bhagirathi group of peaks. After breakfast, start trekking to Gomukh, snout of the Gangotri Glacier. Explore Gomukh and then trek back to Bhojwassa for overnight stay and dinner.
Day 05: Bhojwassa – Gangotri (Trek 4-5 hrs) – Uttarkashi
Post breakfast, start trekking to Uttarkashi via Gangotri. Upon arrival in Uttarkashi, you will embark on a drive to Uttarkashi for an overnight stay and dinner.
Day 07: Uttarkashi – Haridwar (205 kms/6-7 hrs) – Delhi
Start your day with an early morning breakfast and embark on a drive to Haridwar. Upon arrival in Haridwar, you will be transferred to the railway station to board a train to New Delhi by 11:45 PM
